Baiyaya Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by Xiang Liwen, Lin Baoyu and Nan Runshan in 1960 and published in Paleontology Atlas of Qingling in 1963. The type section is Baiyaya section in Mingzhu District, Langao County, Shaanxi Province. Coordinate: 108°49′E, 32°22′N.
Synonym: (白崖垭组)
Lithology and Thickness
The formation is characterized by the grey limestone and grey black bioclastic limestone, with several interbeds of pyroclastic porphyritic sandstone and conglomerate. It is 145 m in thickness at the type section.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is conformable contacted with the underlying Wujiahe Fm
Upper contact
It is conformable contacted with the overlying Doushangou Fm
Regional extent
The thickness increases from west to east, 40 m thick at the Wujiahe section, 145 m at the type section, and 432 m thick near the Langao County in east.

Fossils
It is fossiliferous with abundant corals Mesofavosites oculiporoides, M. obliquus, Subalveolites panderi, Halysites sussmilchi, Antherolites septosus; brachiopod Eocoelia sp., Nalivkinia sp., Glassia sp.; a few graptolite Monoclimacis cf. linnarssoni and stromatoporoid, etc.
